The German Club of Binghamton is a social organization of people who like the German culture and enjoy its celebrations.

Established over 100 years ago to preserve the German’s perennial love for music, sociability, and conviviality, our immigrant founders created our beautiful German Picnic Grounds and Clubhouse in Kirkwood. Here is where we host three German festivals every year Sommerbiergarten, Oktoberfest and Harvest Dance, as well as many other monthly events as listed in our events calendar. You will also find us enjoying the grounds every Friday night at Stammtisch, our regular weekly gathering in the Rathskellar at about 6 PM. Stammtisch promises food and beverages rain or shine and Gemütlichkeit! Good Fellowship!

If you are interested in experiencing German culture more deeply, we have several activities that our members and guests enjoy. We are the proud home of the Binghamton Gemishtechor, our award winning German-language mixed chorus. Under the leadership of our professional musician and director, Randy Messing, the chorus performs concerts in the area and competes with other German choruses in the New York State Sängerbund. Rehearsals follow Stammtisch each Friday at 7 PM from September to June. Our Deutsche Klasse, the German language class, meets several nights each Spring and Fall. Our esteemed Lehrer, George Karius, teaches lessons in speaking and understanding our distinctive mother-tongue. We also offer travel opportunities to Germany and Europe as well as celebrating other German holiday and seasonal celebrations enjoyed in German-speaking nations.

Love of Germany and the German culture.
You don’t have to be German to join!

Guests are invited to consider membership at all our events. Ask for a brochure and an application. We welcome all in the area who want to have Gemütlichkeit right here in the Southern Tier!
